Viennas outdoor pools welcome in the Summer

Vienna's outdoor pools open their doors today, signalling the start of the summer season in the capital that has been welcomed in by sunny skies and warmer temperatures.

All ten of the outdoor pools will stay open now until September 14. Various facilities and recreational activities are on offer in different venues, including playgrounds, children's pools, beach volleyball and football pitches.

For summer swimmers seeking spectacular views, a visit to the Döblinger Pool, Schafberg Pool and Krapfenwald Pool comes recommended. While family groups might prefer Schafberg, those with a particularly taste for 1930s decor and a stylish swim should take a trip to Krapfenwald Pool which is beautifully located on the edge of the Vienna woods and vineyards.

Other options include the imperial looking Schönbrunner Pool, the huge complex Stadium Pool at the Prater, and outdoor area of Therme Wien, the new Vienna thermal pool that also includes a beach volleyball court, hundreds of sun beds, and outdoor massages.

In the case of bad weather the summer pools may close from 15:00 so visitors are advised to check the forecast before donning their swimming cossies.
