Dogs are now being targeted by canine admen with posters at paw-level exuding the whiff of tasty treats.
The posters have gone on display in the Austrian capital Vienna and are aimed at slowing down Fido and getting his attention - and that of the owners - when out on walkies.
The hope is that the fragrant posters will make the owners of the capital's pooches part with their hard-earned cash for the dog snacks.
The adverts have been created by the Austrian billboard specialists Gewista for the Pedigree brand. Smaller versions of the poster - which bear the words WUFF RRWAFF WAU! - are also available to cater for the more diminutive pooch, such as the popular dachshund.
Dog owners can scan a QR code on the poster and find out details about the product - and sign up for invitations to test dog treats.
"We’re so pleased to be able to demonstrate our love of dogs in this extraordinary and creative way," said Alexander Sasyniuk, brand manager at Pedigree.
Maria Hauser, 28, and dog Lumpi road tested the pungent posters on Thursday morning. She said: "Lumpi was very excited. Getting all the strange and wonderful smells on a walk is what it's all about, he stopped and began drooling when he got a whiff of the posters so I guess they worked.
"He looked at me as if to say: Where is the grub hidden, mum? He must have spent a good few minutes before and I had to really pull him away. I guess I'll probably get a few to at least let him try them."
