KulturKontakt Austria exhibit opens in Rijeka

The exhibition "Grenzenlos" (Without Borders) organised by Croatian scholars and artists at KulturKontakt Austria opened in Rijeka, Croatia, this week.

The exhibition at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art was organised with the cooperation of the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of KulturKontakt and of the fall of the Berlin Wall and will run through 28 November.

Croatian Times report that the exhibition features works produced between 1992 and 2008 by Kristina Lenard, Damir Ocka, Marko Tadic, Sebastijan Dracic, Ana Kadoic, Igor Eskinj, Tanja Perisic, Vesna Kovacic and Ana Bilankov. The exhibition’s curators are Jerica Ziherl and Vilma Bartolic.

KulturKontakt Austria is presenting a unique series of exhibitions in six countries of Eastern and south-eastern Europe – Croatia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic – as well as in Austria.

The closing event of the series of exhibitions will take place in KulturKontakt Austria’s Galerie ArtPoint in Vienna in January 2010.

KulturKontakt Austria was one of the first European institutions actively to promote cultural cooperation among the countries of central, eastern and south-eastern Europe. It was founded in 1989 with the goal of coordinating the work of artists, cultural institutions and companies. It has been involved in 4,000 projects since 1990.
