An exhibition of works by Andy Warhol will be on display at Vienna’s Albertina gallery from Friday.
"CARS" features images of automobiles created by the legendary Pop Art artist during the last weeks of his life.
Warhol was commissioned by Mercedes on the company’s 100th anniversary in 1986 to create a series of 80 images highlighting its history. Warhol worked on the project until his death the next year, producing 35 paintings and 12 large-sized drawings.
"CARS" has been displayed in leading museums all over the world, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
It will be on at the Albertina – located in Vienna’s city centre – until 16 May 2010.
