Vienna Zoo Fasching celebrations

Vienna’s Schönbrunn Zoo is to hold a special event for kids to celebrate Fasching (Karneval, or Carnival) on Sunday.

A Zoo spokesman said today (Mon) kids would be able to paint themselves up as different zoo animals at elephant park from 1pm onwards.

Kids who visit the Zoo in the afternoon without masks and Fasching clothing can make masks for themselves as well, choosing to become tigers, lions and other animals.

Prizes will be given out for the best masks.

Since 14 February is Valentines’ Day, kids will also be able to decorate special buttons showing a panda with a pink rose.

Pastries and punch will be available.

Registration for the event is not required.
