VIP ski resort gets social supermarket

An 87-year-old has set up a social supermarket to help the poor in one of Europe’s most expensive towns.

Käthe Nagiller’s shop opened in the posh Tyrolean ski resort of Kitzbühel yesterday (Mon) selling foodstuffs at discount prices.

The "Laden der Nächstenliebe" shop will be open twice a week, and Nagiller and her supporters are hoping for contributions from the well-off residents of Kitzbühel to ensure its success.

Nagiller, who celebrated her 87th birthday yesterday, has been active in social work for some 50 years.

Kitzbühel has some of the highest costs of living in all of Austria, and is regarded as one of the continent’s trendiest ski resorts. Dozens of Austrian and international millionaires own estate in the town.
