Picture On music festival organisers have promised the "best line-up of all time" as the event turns ten this year.
The two-day event will take place in Bildein – a town of 330 people in the province of Burgenland close to the Hungarian border – on 13 and 14 August. Around 5,000 music fanatics are expected to turn up for the anniversary.
Organisers today (Weds) revealed American crossover rock stars Papa Roach and German hip hopper Samy Deluxe will perform this year, adding that German-Austrian reggae / dancehall duo Mono & Nikitaman and British jazz-rock veterans Colosseum were also lined up.
The Picture On festival has earned cult status in Austria and abroad for its relaxed atmosphere and fair-price policy. Two-day passes are currently on offer for just 44 Euros.
The festival takes place in the backyard of the local church. And while significantly bigger events often result in legal action against organisers over noise and pollution, the elderly community of Bildein regards Picture On as the highlight of the year.
Old women sitting in their front gardens watching young people with funny haircuts strolling through the sleepy streets of Bildein are part of the beloved quirkiness that makes Picture On something special.
