Psychologist says she cracked Mona Lisa's smile

A top psychologist claims she has cracked the secret of Mona Lisa's smile.

Art lovers have been stumped for centuries at how Leonardo Da Vinci made his model's smile disappear when you look at the painting – which is on display at the Louvre gallery in Paris – from different angles.

Now expert Isabel Bohrn from Salzburg University said the artist had used secret shadows to create the enigma.

"Mona Lisa smiles when you look into her eyes, but she doesn’t when you watch her mouth. He created shadows that merge into each other creating different images from different angles," she explained yesterday (Thurs).
