A 2 for 1 Valentine's Day at Schönbrunn Zoo

A 2 for 1 Valentine's Day at Schönbrunn Zoo

Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna is feeling loving in anticipation of Valentine’s Day next Tuesday. The Austrian zoo have revealed that they will be offering a pair of tickets to couples for only 14 Euros on the most romantic day of the year.

The zoo, which is currently covered in snow, provides the perfect romantic winter destination, the zoo's director Dagmar Schratter believes. "In the zoo you can observe the affectionate interactions of our pairs of animals such as our agoutis Alesandra and Franco."

The South American rodents have lived together in the bird house since March last year. When Franco first came from Dortmund Zoo to meet Alesandra in Schönbrunn it was not exactly love at first sight. "They first had to get to know each other and step by step they got used to one another’s company. It took several weeks. Now however they are inseparable, they eat together from the same feeding bowl and always sleep closely cuddled together," explained Schratter.
