The following films are on at the English language cinema Haydn Kino on Mariahilfestrasse between 24 January and 29 January 2014.

Blue Jasmine: Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) is an elegant New York socialite who is married to a wealthy businessman Hal (Alec Baldwin). Everything is going great until you discover that Hal is actually a crook. This discovery leads to the financial ruin of the family and the psychological breakdown of Jasmine, who decided to move in with her sister (Sally Hawkins) in San Francisco.

The Hobbit the Desolation of Smaug: The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

Gravity: The brilliant Dr. Ryan Stone is on his first space mission, while the astronaut Matt Kovalsky is the last flight before retirement. What for them was to be a routine space walk turns into a catastrophe. The shuttle is destroyed and they are finding themselves in the silence of the universe. Floating in darkness and without any interaction with the Earth have apparently no chance of surviving because oxygen is running out. Perhaps the only way to hope to get home is to delve into the infinite space.

12 years a Slave: is based on the true story of one man's fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life.

The Wolf of Wall Street: The latest from director Martin Scorsese Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – "The Wolf of Wall Street.

Catching Fire: In the second film from the Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

The Physician: An adaptation of Noah Gordon's bestseller book, The Physician follows the story of a surgeon's apprentice in Persia in the 11th Century, who disguises himself as a Jew to study at a school that does not admit Christians.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty:  A day-dreamer escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker are threatened, he takes action in the real world.

All is Lost: After a collision with a shipping container at sea, a resourceful sailor finds himself, despite all efforts to the contrary, staring his mortality in the face. The film stars Robert Redford

Frozen: An animation where fearless optimist Anna teams up with Kristoff in an epic journey, encountering Everest-like conditions, and a hilarious snowman named Olaf in a race to find Anna's sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.
