Edita Gruberova Wows Audience With Mozart-esque Performance

Edita Gruberova Wows Audience With Mozart-esque Performance

By Matthias Loinig,

The queen of Coloratura Edita Gruberova made a guest performance with her Mozart-esque performance at the Vienna Concert House this week.

The first half of the performance was devoted to aria which Gruberova performed for the first time in a long time in concert.

The audience held their breaths as they got the opportunity to hear 67-year-old Gruberova sing a Donna Anna and gar Martenarie particularly to Mozart’s music which is known to be particularly transparent and none forgiving to mistakes.

The first aria tones from the second act of the Don Giovanni were convincing. Her voice was the audience claimed perfect, clear and as soft as velvet in Piani. After this Gruberova sang the two most difficult arias the ‘The Abduction from the Seragli’  ‘Which Change’ and ‘Tortures of all kinds’.

The highlight came towards the Marternarie when her voice was at its absolute best and she could show the full range of her vocals, which she has been performing for well over 45 years.

After the break Edita Gruberova sung a range of Mozart titles, which she had never before sung on stage. Particularly the Mitridate re di Ponto offered her the opportunity to show herself at her very best. She also sang Rosenarie der Susanna from ‚The Marriage of Figaro‘, with her voice sounding young, fresh and as clean as ever in the intonation.

To finish she performed Come scoglio, Cosi fan tutte and Rachearie delighting the audience and she was given a standing ovation from the mesmerized audience who were left wanting even more.

The concert proved once again that Gruberova truly is a master of her voice and performed Mozart music with precision and the exactness which Mozart music demands.

The audience in Vienna cnnot wait for her return to the Viennese stage.

Edita Gruberova is a Slovak soprano who is one of the most acclaimed dramatic coloraturas of the 21st century. She is noted for her great tonal clarity, agility, dramatic power, endurance, and ability to sing high notes with great power and sustained vocal consistency,.
