To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Austrian Film Museum in Vienna the institution is collaborating with New York's Museum of Modern Art on an exhibition.
Vienna Unveiled: A City in Cinema will explore the city through the history of film, featuring reflections on Vienna from people who have left the city and seventy films from the late 19th century up to the modern day.
The exhibition is part of a three week citywide festival in New York called Vienna: City of Dreams, a celebration of the music and culture of the city organised by Carnegie Hall.
Visions of Vienna from international film-makers and artists such as Jem Cohen, Stanley Kubrick and Michael Haneke will be included in the Museum of Modern Art exhibition. It will also focus on Austrian and German Jewish migrants such as Max Ophuls and Billy Wilder and their relationships with the Vienna they left.
There will also be a chance to see special guest presenters, including Austrian artist Valie Export on 28 February 28, and film-maker Jem Cohen on 31 March.
Vienna Unveiled: A City in Cinema will take place between 27 February - 20 April 2014 in the Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters at MoMA.
