What is on at Haydn Kino this week (21 February - 26 February)

The following films are on at the English language cinema Haydn Kino on Mariahilfestrasse between 21 February and 26 February:

Monuments Men: An unlikely World War II platoon is tasked to rescue art masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their owners. Written, directed and starring George Clooney. Impressive cast including Matt Damon, John Goodman, Cate Blanchett, and Bill Murray.

The Butler: As Cecil Gaines serves eight presidents during his tenure as a butler at the White House, the civil rights movement, Vietnam, and other major events affect this man's life, family, and American society. Starring Oprah Winfrey and Forest Whitaker.

Frozen3D: A prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Princess Anna must team up with Kristoff, a daring mountain man, on the grandest of journeys to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. A Disney classic in the making that is loosely based on children's story author Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen.

Dallas Buyers Club: In 1985 Dallas, electrician and hustler Ron Woodroof works around the system to help AIDS patients get the medication they need after he is himself diagnosed with the disease. A true story featuring a very slimmed down Matthew McConaughey, who got his weight down to 10 stone to play the part of HIV+ Woodroof. Real life Woodroof told his incredible tale to screenwriter Craig Borten just a month before he died - and it took a further 20 years to get the film made.

Robocop: In 2028 Detroit when ALex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) - a loving husband, father and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. A remake of the exceptional 1987 original, 2014's Robocop stars Gary Oldman, Joel Kinnaman, and lots of high tech shiny stuff.

Free Birds: Two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course for Thanksgiving dinner history...forever. One for the kids (and the adult-shaped kids).

Anchorman 2: With the 70s behind him, San Diego's top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to take New York's first 24 hour news channel by storm.

Mandela: A chronicle of Nelson Mandela's life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa. Starring Idris Elba and Naomie Harris.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty:  A day-dreamer escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker are threatened, he takes action in the real world.

12 years a Slave: is based on the true story of one man's fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life.

The Wolf of Wall Street: The latest from director Martin Scorsese Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), from his rise to a wealthy stockbroker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – "The Wolf of Wall Street.

Nymphomaniac: Lars Von Trier's latest controversy sees a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac recount her erotic experiences to the man who saved her after a beating, and takes her into his home. As he tends to her wounds, she recounts the erotic story of her adolescence and young-adulthood. As you might expert from Von Triet, lots of 'no holds barred' sex scenes but done in, you know, an arty way. Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf and Jamie Bell.
