Claus Tyler interviewed by Austrian Times

Austrian designer Claus Tyler speaks to Austrian Times

By Anita Matkovic

Claus Tyler has been making a name for himself within Austria’s fashion scene. His designs are made with elegance, and are usually best suited for high class occasions. Aside from glamorous gowns the label also offers ready-to-wear fashion, as well as accessories for fashion lovers who want to buy local high quality fashion, and in the world of wanting the best, the demand for these garments is rising. Tyler has been rising as Austria’s most wanted Fashion Designer, and is worn by the vast majority of stars and celebrities including the likes of the Opera Diva Daniela Fally and Topmodel Carmen Kreuzer.

Tyler’s long fascination for exclusive garments and colours gave him the idea to build his own fashion label in the year 2000, before finally finding his own label in the year 2011. Tyler’s label specializes in wonderful ball gowns stating that "they are definitely one of the most sophisticated ways of expressing my idea of fashion". However the label also offers ready-to-wear fashion and accessories and will add jewellery to the collection sometime this year.

Tyler’s inspiration for his work is in everything and everywhere he goes; from the buildings in a city, to landscapes, reflections of light in the water. "Inspiration can be found in basically everything," says Tyler, speaking to the Austrian Times. "When I return from a trip to cities like Paris, Munich, Trieste or London, my head is full of inspiration for new silhouettes and surfaces for a vast number of new designs."

What makes the Claus Tyler label unique and different from others is that, every ball gown and wedding gown is perfectly designed to the needs of its future owner. All the work that is carried out with a "claustyler création souveraine" dress are fastidiously controlled and partly done by himself personally. "That guarantees a high level of quality," he said, adding that he is not a partisan of purism, and loves to play with embroideries, lace elements and drapery to create sophisticated models, giving his pieces amazing details, from the embellishments to wonderfully tailored cuts.

"It is my dearest wish that every piece is perfect in its way," says Tyler. His gowns are a special blend of exclusive details and materials with a hint of Haute Couture that create outstanding robes, perfect for any high class occasion, which is why Claus Tyler fans choose his garments for special events like the Opera Ball and Life Ball.

Apart from creating fashion, Tyler is also a devoted businessman, creating his label and rising it up from scratch comes from his passion of uniting the entrepreneurial and the creative part of the fashion business, which is the basis of the label’s initial success, and also its fundamental goal. His experience studying business administration as well as fashion design at ‘Die Herbststrasse’ in Vienna, plus several years of work experience in Marketing/PR departments, helps him on his way to achieving this goal.

To shop for Claus Tyler designs you can visit the Mondrean at Dorotheergasse 13, 1010 Vienna or visit the online Boutique at www.claustyler.com.
