The “Seth Rogen VS Zac Efron” comedy has one of the most epic battles you will ever see on the big screen between the two main characters, great ideas on how to make significant financial gains with an open-air market, great ideas on how to throw epic parties, great ideas on how to piss off your neighbours, a dozen of rhyming synonyms of the quote “bros before hos”, some girl on girl action for the male audience and a lot of eye candy for the ladies, as for one quarter of the movie Zac Efron appears in the movie without a t-shirt.
The English-American screenwriter/ director Nicholas Stoller directs the craziest comedy of the year so far, with Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien writing the scripts and successfully presenting us with the right jokes at the right time.
Mac Radner, played by Seth Rogen, and Kelly Radner, played by Rose Byrne are the happily married couple with a newborn daughter Stella, who have spent every penny on purchasing their family house. The house next door, although, is still looking for its owners. Even though the two are really excited about the possibility of a fabulous gay couple as their new neighbours, a fraternity known for their outrageous parties is moving in and after the first night, when the two parties spent some legendary moments together, the situation goes south.
Zac Efron, as Teddy Sanders, the president of the fraternity, together with Dave Franco, as Pete Regazolli, the vice president of the fraternity, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, as Scoonie, the guy who has acclaimed talents, team up to destroy the lives of the happy family next door. The couple will need to go through hell to get rid of the unwanted neighbours, who become popular on the block, beside their daily scandalous parties. Nevertheless, the “hell” situation will act as a necessary evil and a game changing life experience for all them all.
Seth Rogen delivers on the matter of his multi absurdity skills, while teaming up with the Rose Byrne for a comedy that combines unique and classic ideas. Zac Efron gets his chance to show off without being judged, while Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse follow his lead. The cameo by Lisa Kudrow, mostly popular for her role as Phoebe in “F.R.I.E.N.D.S.” is a nice addition, which will make your smile even bigger. While mentioning bigger, be also prepared to find out how to milk a woman’s breasts.
Just because “Bad Neighbours” is a comedy, it doesn’t stop it from presenting some good ideas on the life before and after college, the difficulties of growing older and becoming more responsible or lack of rumpy pumpy when a new member of a family arrives. The soundtrack of the movie is consciously picked as well, with Fergie’s 2006 hit “London Bridge” coming at the perfect moment, making you wanna join the party!!
To sum up, “Bad Neighbours”, aka “Neighbors”, will make you laugh and hit the gym afterwards. It will also answer some fundamental questions like how Zac Efron was created, if he’s a good actor, who’s the real Batman and if “bros before hos” code can be broken.
P.S. If you look the other way during the Zac Efron’s abs scenes you may save yourself from a late gym session. Also, if you watch the movie and decide to reprise some of the financial ideas, don’t forget to shave!
