Life Ball is Austria’s grand event celebrating Life in its fullest form, accepting all and every form of diversity and spreading tolerance for all genders around the globe. Every year the Organisers set a certain theme including a specific dress code for the guests and stars who will be attending - it is part of Life Ball’s special flair. More often than not the guests will show up in flamboyant and magnificently detailed outfits fitting the theme in their own individual and creative way.
The fashion aspect of the Life Ball is a big deal as the fashion show is part of the big opening ceremony which attracts tens of thousands of visitors as well as hundreds of national and international media representatives. This year the fashion show will unveil the first ever male fashion show featuring the seven icons of fashion and a fierce tuxedo filled manifestation on the runway, presenting some of the fashion icons’ latest styles, with Ricky Martin as a special performer.
The big names in fashion whose styles are to be flaunted on the big fashion stage are: Givenchy, Viktor & Rolf, Lanvin, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Etro and Dsquared2; these are people who are said to be "leading the way to masculine elegance and sexy chic." All accompanied by legendary female, fashion, music and stage divas in haute couture by the seven designers, as they combine and present their creative versions to fit the Life Ball theme of "Garden of Earthly Delights".
This year’s theme also comes with the slogan: "Love is a bloom growing anywhere". The organisers of the ball have created a "style bible" which is available online and in print and serves as a form of art as well as inspiration for the attending guests and their outfits. The message behind the "Garden of Earthly Delights" style is: "Visually embedded in the circle of life and nature, the figures of the Style Bible also show their ambiguity: Lust may destroy or inspire, it may inhibit people or enable them to go beyond their boundaries." The Style Bible also takes account of naturalness, meaning that only the lighting has been retouched and the aids have been removed - everything else is natural, just like nature intended.
The Life Ball will be taking place on May 31st at the City Hall Square in Vienna.
