Wurst parody is a hit on YouTube

A Swiss journalist has produced an internet parody of the Conchita Wurst Eurovision song contest hit Rise Like A Phoenix.

Journalist Julian Fricker, who calls his bearded lady character Shiaz Legz, released the song Rise Like A Penis onto YouTube where he can be seen enjoying himself with slaves – and more than a few Frankfurter sausages.

He said: "I did it because I wanted my mother to be proud of me. But I am actually also hoping Conchita might like it or at least will have a laugh. In the worst-case it will be hated but either way it will get people talking and that is what I wanted to do."

Fricker, who works as a freelance journalist, is also a fan of the Austrian bearded lady Conchita. He was at the public viewing of the song contest in Berlin when the final took place and was also addressed then as Conchita – getting a standing ovation when he turned up.

After she won, he was even invited onto the stage and got the chance to perform the song – which gave him the idea of doing the parody.
