The following films are on at the English language cinema Haydn Kino on Mariahilfestrasse between 22 May and 28 May:


Bad Neighbours: A comedy film, directed by Nicholas Stoller and written by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. A couple with a newborn baby move into a new neighborhood and face unexpected difficulties following the establishment of a fraternity house in the adjacent residence. An intensive conflict between the two parties ensues. The film stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Dave Franco, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

The Other Woman: A romantic comedy film directed by Nick Cassavetes and written by Melissa Stack. The film stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Kinney. After discovering her boyfriend Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is married, Carly (Cameron Diaz) tries to get her ruined life back on track. But when she accidentally meets the wife he’s been cheating on, Kate (Leslie Mann), she realizes they have much in common, and her sworn enemy becomes her greatest friend. When yet another affair, Amber (Kate Upton), is discovered, all three women team up to plot mutual revenge on the cheating, lying, three-timing Mark.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Live Theater from London): The National Theatre’s acclaimed production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is based on Mark Haddon’s award-winning novel, adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott. Christopher, fifteen years old, has an extraordinary brain – exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion of killing Mrs Shears' dog Wellington, he records each fact about the event in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of the murder. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

Godzilla (3D): A science fiction monster film featuring the Japanese film monster of the same name in a reboot of the Godzilla film franchise. The film retells the origin of Godzilla in contemporary times as a "terrifying force of nature" in a style faithful to the Toho series of Godzilla films. The film is directed by British filmmaker Gareth Edwards, written by Max Borenstein and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. Godzilla arises to combat a massive, malevolent force that's been feeding on a nuclear plant's reactors and now threatens mankind with total annihilation.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (3D): A superhero film, based on the fictional X-Men characters appearing in Marvel Comics and on the 1981 Uncanny X-Men storyline "Days of Future Past" by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. Directed by Bryan Singer, it is the seventh film in the X-Men film series and the third X-Men film directed by Singer after 2000's X-Men and 2003's X2. It stars an ensemble cast including Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. The story is written by Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn, and Jane Goldman, with Kinberg writing the screenplay. The X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in a battle in which they must change the past – to save their future.

Grace of Monaco: A biography film about the life of Grace Kelly, directed by Olivier Dahan and written by Arash Amel. The film stars Nicole Kidman in the titular role. It also features a supporting cast of Frank Langella, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi, Paz Vega, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Milo Ventimiglia, and Tim Roth. Grace of Monaco is focused on former Hollywood star Grace Kelly's crisis of marriage and identity, during a dispute between Monaco's Prince Rainier III and France's Charles de Gaulle in 1962.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (3D): A superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb and released by Columbia Pictures. It serves as a sequel to the 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man and was announced in 2011. The studio hired James Vanderbilt to write the screenplay and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to re-write it. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field are set to star. After the events of the first film we find Peter Parker still struggling with balancing his life as a high school student and his responsibilities as Spider-Man. When Peter begins to investigate more about his father's past, thanks to the help of his friend Harry Osborn, he begins to realize that the new threats of Electro and the Rhino all have one thing in common: OsCorp. More villains like Green Goblin are said to be introduced in the movie, which may lead to the Sinister Six movie.

Transcendence: A 2014 science fiction mystery thriller film that marks the directorial debut of long-time cinematographer Wally Pfister. The film stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, and Morgan Freeman. Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas serve as executive producers of the film. Johnny Depp portrays Dr. Will Caster, an artificial intelligence researcher who strives to create a machine that possesses sentience and collective intelligence. When Carter is close to death, because of an attempted assassination, his wife Evelyn, played by Rebecca Hall, downloads his mind into a computer trying to save his life. Although Caster's goal to acquire knowledge becomes one to acquire power, and he seems to be unstoppable.

Her: A science fiction romantic comedy-drama film written, directed, and produced by Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are - 2009). The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, and Scarlett Johansson as the voice of Samantha. The film centers on a man who develops a relationship with an intelligent computer operating system (OS) with a female voice and personality. It marks Jonze's solo screenwriting debut. The film was under fire, when Scarlett Johansson won numerous awards in Best Supporting Actress categories, because we don't see the actress actually playing in the film.

Muppets Most Wanted: A musical comedy caper film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and the eighth theatrical film featuring the Muppets. Directed by James Bobin and written by Bobin and Nicholas Stoller, the film is a sequel to 2011's The Muppets and stars Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, and Tina Fey. In Muppets Most Wanted, the Muppets find themselves unwittingly involved in an international crime caper while on tour in Europe.

Edge of Tomorow (3D): A science fiction film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The film is directed by Doug Liman. It is based on the Japanese light novel "All You Need Is Kill" by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. In the near future, an alien race has invaded the Earth and has defeated the world's military units. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), a military officer inexperienced in combat, is deployed into a combat mission against the aliens. Though Cage is killed in minutes, he finds himself starting over in a time loop, repeating the same combat mission and being killed. Each time, Cage learns to better fight the aliens, and he teams up with Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) to defeat them.

Disney's Maleficent (3D): A dark fantasy adventure film directed by Robert Stromberg from a screenplay written by Linda Woolverton. Starring Angelina Jolie as the eponymous Disney Villainess character, the film is a live-action re-imagining of Walt Disney's 1959 animated film "Sleeping Beauty", and portrays the story from the perspective of the antagonist, Maleficent. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora (Elle Fanning) is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

A Million Ways To Die In The West: A western comedy film produced and directed by Seth MacFarlane and written by MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin, and Wellesley Wild. The film will star MacFarlane himself along with Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman, and Neil Patrick Harris. In 1882 Arizona, Albert (Seth MacFarlane), a sheep farmer who lacks courage, loses his beloved girlfriend Louise (Amanda Seyfried) as a result of his withdrawal from a duel. He soon meets another woman named Anna (Charlize Theron), discovering his bravery and confidence. The herder soon realizes his true potential when the woman's spouse (Liam Neeson), an infamous criminal, demands payback.
