Celebs land in Vienna ahead of Life Ball

Some of the top stars attending the Life Ball have landed in Vienna airport ahead of this weekend's grand event.

Courtney Love, Kesha, and Desperate Housewives actress Marcia Cross were among some of the famous faces who arrived early Friday morning on a 'celebrity flight'.

Singer-songwriter and actress Love, who was married to Kurt Kobain in the early nineties, reportedly rushed past reporters all dressed in black and covered in a headscarf. Kesha however, who is performing as part of the celebration this weekend, was happy to stop in front of the paparazzi for a few snaps.

Actor Billy Zane, who is taking part in the Red Ribbon Concert at Burgtheatre also arrived and told journalists that he was "looking forward to add my voice to the good cause."

Carmen Carrera, the transgender model who posed naked for this year's Life Ball poster, spoke of her surprise at the controversy caused by the poster in Austria after she landed at Vienna airport today. She said: "If someone has felt offended, then I am sorry. But I think it is important to show that there is more than just male of female in this world. That is my message."

This year's Life Ball, an annual HIV and AIDS fundraising event, is expected to be particularly packed full of celebrities guests, including actress Lindsay Lohan is also expected to land in Vienna on Friday on a plane from London.

Other famous faces performing include Ricky Martin, Leona Lewis and Conchita Wurst.

Taking place on Saturday, the 22nd Life Ball is dedicating itself to the topic "The Garden of Earthly Delights" and aims to raise further funds for the fight against HIV/AIDS and to hoist a flag for living in solidarity – is also reflected in 2014’s slogan: "Love is a bloom growing anywhere".

Money raised from the Red Ribbon Concert that is hosted as part of the Life Ball is donated to CHAI, the charitable organisation run by former US President Bill Clinton, who is also attending the event. The donations will go towards efforts to prevent mother to child transmission of HIV in low income countries.
