Austria hosts biggest wine event at Imperial Palace

Vienna is gearing itself up for Austria's biggest wine event, set to open on 14 June at the city's Imperial Hofburg Palace.

The VieVinum features exhibitors from the finest wine producers from both Austrian and international vineyards, and as the host country this year is France, producers from famous regions such as Champagne, Bordeaux, and Burgundy will be showing their products.

Around 550 exhibitors will take part during the event that runs at the palace until 16 June.

Held only once every two years, it is a chance for vinters and vinter associations from around the world to meet and discuss wine, as well as attend tastings from the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Wine producers, importers and distributors all take part in the event, which is also open to the general public and includes a food tent on Heldenplatz where culinary snacks will be available.

The event runs for trade visitors from 12:00 on Saturday until 18:00 on Monday. Tickets can be purchased on the day for 40 EUR or in advance 30 EUR. For more information visit www.vievinum.at
