Summer of Sounds in Viennas MuseumsQuartier

A celebration of sounds is taking place in Vienna's cultural hub this summer.

The capital's MuseumsQuartier is hosting a breadth of events exploring sound, art and architecture in a summer-long festival "Summer of Sounds".

The event kicked off on June 5 with the opening of an exhibit at mumok "Josef Dabernig. Rock the Void", plus concerts from Polish hi hop band Kaliber 44 and Ja, Panik.

Until the last of the summer sunshine at the end of September, around seventy events will be held in the MQ courtyard, one of ten largest cultural districts in the world. Some highlights include workshops at the Zoom Children’s Museum, a exhibit about 'sound architecture' at the Architecture Centre, and an open-air chamber orchestra performance in front of the Leopold Museum.

There will also be pop music performances as part of Popfest in three different locations at MQ on July 26. And on September 12, a water-film sculpture will rise from MQ’s water basin in the form of 'Living Waterfalls'.

Many other events will be taking place through the summer months, closing with a concert from the band Gustav on September 25 as the finale of the festival.
