National team give €20,000 for Haiti aid

The Austrian football national team have donated 20,000 Euros to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Officials at the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) said the players had made the donation after a campaign was launched by VfL Bochum’s Christian Fuchs and Wigan Athletic star Paul Scharner.

ÖFB has also added its own 20,000-Euro donation to the sum.

The full 40,000 Euros will be given to Austria’s "Nachbar in Not" (Neighbour in Need) foundation made up of eight charities including Caritas, the Austrian Red Cross and CARE Austria.

See www.nachbarinnot.at for information on how to donate to "Nachbar in Not".
