Austrian victory in Ironman

Austrian victory at Ironman competition

It was an Austrian victory at the weekend's IRONMAN 70.3 competition after the country came first in the women's race and third in the men's race.

The competition, which took place in St. Polten in Austria, was one of the long distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) that saw competitors running, cycling and swimming on their way to the finish line.

The "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run.

Two time champion Lisa Hütthaler added a second victory to her belt in Austria just weeks after winning IRONMAN 70.3 Mallorca. Hütthaler was once more behind the leaders in the water, but then she fought her way to the front on the bike.

And Austria's Michael Weiss came an impressive third place after a surge in the running section that saw him complete the second-best run and making it to the podium in 3:53:45.

The first place in the male race went to British IRONMAN European champion Llanos Threlfall and the second to Alberto Cassadei.
