Burgenland Wine at the Olympics

Four hundred bottles of sweet desert wine from the Umathum vineyard in Burgenland have been sent to London for the Olympics on request of the world'S best restaurant.

The sweet fruity wine from 2009 from Frauenkirchen near Neusiedl am See will be served in the 'Noma' restaurant for the duration of the London Olympics.

Noma, which was voted the 'best restaurant in the world' in 2010 and 2011 is located normally in Copenhagen, but has moved to London for the duration of the Olympics.

The inclusion of the Umathum wine took the producer family by surprise.

"We have an importer in England. We got a mail from him two weeks ago asking how much of the Auslese wine was available. We asked for what is was being used for. That is when we found out it would be used in the Noma restaurant  during the Olympics in London." said Ariane Umathum.
