Chinese computer geek Zhang Fan, 26, who was told he needed to get out and meet a nice girl after spending three months in his bedroom online, was arrested after he dressed up as superman - and went out onto the street to ask women to whip him.
Fan’s pal Lu Hong, 25, who came to the police station to collect him said: "He is very shy, the only thing he knows about girls is what he’s seen on the internet. He thought the best way to meet them was to dress up and ask them to whip him. I guess he was looking at the wrong web sites.
"
Hong added that Fan had become so shy that he had spent the last three months in his room, living off fast food he had dialled up from an online delivery service at his home in Chengdu, in Sichuan province, southwest China.
Single Fan was quoted by local media as saying: "I don’t like to speak to others, especially females. Each time one speaks to me, I am too terrified to speak."
He was released without charge on condition he agreed to get therapy to teach him a better way to chat up girls.
