Brit Animal Lover Offers To Adopt Survivor Of Canine Hitman

Brit Animal Lover Offers To Adopt Survivor Of Canine Hitman

An animal shelter caring for a dog shot by a canine hitman in Croatia has been flooded with offers from people who want to adopt him - including at least one pet lover in Britain.

Sonya Lawton, 54, is one of those who contacted the people taking care of Olly, a dog that was nicknamed Lucky by animal carers after he survived a shotgun blast.

His cruel owner had paid an animal assassin 4 GBP to kill him and throw him into a river. But he was plucked to safety by fishermen and is now recovering from his wounds in the city of Cakovec, in northern Croatia.

Aleksandra Hampamer from the local Animal Friends association says: "There are many people wanting to adopt this little hero."

In a letter to the shelter Sonya Lawton said: "I'm in Staffordshire, England - I'm an animal rights activist so I can guarantee the dog will be given the best home possible. I'd pay for flight costs."

Olly will be up and about in two months time. Police have a lead on his would-be killer who is accused of killing other dogs in the region because their owners were too stingy to pay 30 GBP to have their pets put to sleep humanely.
