Stars of Dirty Dancing musical chosen

Two all-signing all-dancing theatre actors have been found to play the romantic roles in the Dirty Dancing musical stage show due to tour Germany, Switzerland and Austria this year.

Anna Weihrauch and Mate Gyenei have been chosen to play the roles of 'Baby' and 'Johnny' in a musical production of the romantic and much-loved 1980s film.

From  21. September until 26. October 2014 this world famous production of the film will be on the stage at Vienna's Stadthalle. Millions of people have already been delighted by the stage show which has been touring the world. Now the show is to visit Austria, Germany and Switzerland for the first time.

Co-director Alex Balga is happy about the decision to cast the two main characters, describing the musical theatres stars as a "perfect match". "For us, the two are clearly a dream cast," she said.

The Dirty Dancing film became a cult classic after it was released in cinemas in 1987. The plot follows naive teenager nicknamed 'Baby' on holiday with her family, where she meets charismatic older dancer, Johnny.

After a wobbly beginning, the two hit it off - cue dance montages and slow motion shots. But as fun and romantic as the film is, it also has a serious side and is a 'coming of age' story that takes on difficult issues.

Now there is a chance to see the show on stage in Vienna - tickets are available from:

01/305 06 85 or
As well as Wiener Stadthalle 01/+ 43 / 1 / 79 999 79 or
Wien Ticket  01/588 85 or
Ö-Ticket at 01/96 0 96 or
