Michael Koehlmeier launches formal complaint against FPOe politician

Author Köhlmeier to formally complain about FPOe politician

Vorarlberg author Michael Köhlmeier wants to bring a formal complaint against FPOe politician Andreas Mölzer for his comments that the Nazi Third Reich may have been more liberal than the European Union.

Köhlmeier is calling for people to get behind him and put their names to his petition to the police calling for them to investigate whether the comments are hate speech. People who want to voice their support should do so via the SOS Human Rights Austria charity by 11 April.

"I would be ashamed to say nothing about it," says Köhlmeier, explaining why he felt he should say something.

The comments by Mölzer that Hitler's Nazi rule "certainly did not have as many rules and regulations, commandments and bans" as the European Parliament, which is a dictatorship that makes the Third Reich look "possibly...liberal", came during a meeting in Vienna in February.

It was also revealed that Mölzer has made discriminatory remarks against black people whilst speaking at a separate event in February about a book from another right-winger where he said Europe risked becoming a "conglomerate of Negroes ... where chaos multiplies (via) mass immigration."

Köhlmeier is an Austrian musician and writer who has written books such as 'Abendland' and 'Idylle mit ertrinkendem Hund'.
