The
German boy who persuaded health officials to change the law so she could became
a girl has now launched a pop career with the first video shown Tuesday on
British television.
Kim Petras whose debut album comes out next month
appeared on ITV's This Morning to talk about the decision to become a girl and
her pop career.
Kim, who writes all her own songs and music and
choreographed around dance routines, said she was also planning her first tour
which would start in the UK.
The video to her latest single Die For You
was broadcast for the first time and Kim revealed they had been in such a rush
to finish it she had even danced some of the scenes with the music playing at
double speed to get it finished on time.
She said: "I get asked all the
time what it's like to be a girl now, but as far as I'm concerned I've always
been a girl."
Kim said she had to meet dozens of psychiatrists and
doctors who wanted to test her resolve to become female and was relieved that it
was all finally over and she could enjoy her life as a girl at last.
She
said: "I am 16 years old and am living my dream. It's great to have a chance to
perform my music and also to be so involved in everything. I was rehearsing for
a month for the video and it was really fun to work out all the various dance
moves. It was a rush at the end to fit it all in but we've done it now and I'm
really happy with it. The next one though will be even better."
Kim who
was making her first visit to London and managed to visit some of the sites said
she had loved the city and hopes to be back again for a longer visit before
starting her UK tour.
"I've dreamed about this moment for so long I'm not
going to back off now.
"I know I'm young but I have strong feelings and
ideas and I know what's right for me," she explained.
